If you are just looking to get started with ftrack and to track your files, consider using the storage scenario instead, which is covered within the Storage Locations onboarding guide. With a storage scenario, a managed location plugin will be automatically configured for the python client and Connect.

Before you get into publishing via the API, please make sure you have a good understanding of the different ways to handle files and media in ftrack.

It is possible to review files in a desktop player and the web interface using the built-in review tools in ftrack, such as client review or the web player.
